My mom wrote her own blog about this journey so far. Her voice is so powerful that I felt I should share:

So normally Samson would be writing this update, but this time you’re hearing from his mom.  Samson has taught me a lot about listening to God, and when the idea of writing this post came to me, I decided I needed to respond.  (I won’t tell you how long it’s been between the time I had the idea to the time I’m writing…)  Anyway, I’ve really been moved to say THANK YOU.  THANK YOU…THANK YOU…THANK YOU!

Wow!  Throughout this process God continues to reveal Himself in big ways.  I am in awe of the outpouring of support Samson has received through both words and financial donations.  It has become evident how much our words and actions do matter.  Samson has impacted people I had no idea he knew.  And people have blessed him in ways he had no idea they would.

I’m not one to get excited about fundraising.  Not my thing.  But I knew how important this trip was to Samson so I’ve tried to help.  And just when we thought we had some pretty good ideas, COVID-19 paralyzed our nation.  But NOTHING can paralyze our God.

Many of the ideas we brainstormed are no longer options so yes, fundraising has been challenging.  And yes, the trip details have changed a few times.  And yes, most likely, there will be more challenges and changes before Samson departs on the World Race.  But it has been a joy for me to watch my son throughout this process.  And it has been so amazing to hear about the people that have blessed him.

So, THANK YOU for supporting my son.  THANK YOU for getting excited about the opportunity he has to share to Gospel all over the world.  And as Samson likes to say…God is on the move!

Trip Update:

The organization is very optimistic that the trip will still take place. Our training camp was planned for July, but has been pushed back to September, the week before we leave. The organization has discussed possible alternatives, such as staying at the home base in Georgia for several months before going out into the field as things improve.

Thank you all for your amazing support and loving hearts!
