When people ask when was the moment you found Jesus or declared He was God, I never had a specific moment in mind. The Lord was always there and it just felt like a continuous walk with highs and many lows. My faith was lacking in huge ways that I never realized before coming on the World Race. I lacked the understanding of my purpose in faith. The true understanding of God’s love for me and that I was born to be loved. There is so much I could go into with this, but I would like to share my testimony of my baptism in this blog!

A missionary from Guatemala came to speak to us the first week of November. His teachings were spirit-filled and powerful in their timing. The Lord showed me an analogy that I had been building up wax on a candle for the past months while being here. A flame would light here and there, but it would eventually die out again. But on November 4th, after one of Gabe’s teachings, I gave it all to the Lord. God gave me eternal wax to burn for Him. The candle might be dimmer at times, but it is always burning for the Lord because I have fully chosen Him.

The morning of the 5th, our squad leader came to us with the opportunity to get baptized in a lake. This was an intentional opportunity to physically declare my inward transformation. God was working with all my squadmates in such crazy ways in preparation for this event.

November 5th, 2020. The day I turned 19! My birthday, but more importantly, my (birth)day. New in my identity! Everything the Lord has been leading me through with being “New” was coming to this moment. To get baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. To wash away my old self, to die to my flesh, get rid of my sins, and declare the enemy has no place in me!

This was a beautiful day for my squad as a whole. I got to hear the testimonies of many of my brothers and sisters who had chosen to get baptized as well. Heaven was open wide! There was so much revival in our squad and I saw beautiful walks of my brothers and sisters into sons and daughters of the Kingdom! Praise the Lord!

Please reach out to hear more about how the Lord is working in me, my squad, and those we meet!

  1. Reading your baptism reflections made my heart soar Samson! I will enthusiastically pray for you and your squad as you continue in this journey. May your heart stay as fine tuned to Jesus as it was the moment you were lifted out of the baptismal water!

  2. Another inspiring story Samson. I look forward to reading each and everyone of your blogs.
Your apology of the wax from a candle was so amazing and very inspiring. I’ll look at wax from the candles I burn totally different. Thank you for showing these old eyes of mine of seeing beautiful in the smallest thing like wax from a candle. My old eyes, ears and thoughts can be changed from a sweet 19 year old child of God.
