The power of prayer. Maybe someone has tried to tell you this before. Maybe they haven’t. I know I have heard this multiple times growing up. It never really seemed to click.

While surrendering my life to God and walking with Him, I have continued to understand deeper and deeper the power of prayer. I am nowhere close to comprehending the fullness of it, and I think it is beyond human comprehension. We have been given the great gift of prayer! I think prayer is taken for granted; I know I took it for granted for a large part of my life. There are still times now where I could go through the whole day without stepping into prayer.

Prayer is a gift to be used in all its great power. We can never understand how powerful it is, and praying for hours a day should be something we do normally. If all Christians on earth prayed hours a day, I believe there would be a huge shift in the world! I know that the Lord is trying to take me deeper with prayer, and by His grace I have seen so much fruit from it.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Pray continuously! That is part of God’s will for us! If the power of one prayer is big, imagine the voice of all God’s children lifting up requests to Him.

I called my dad the other day, and what a great conversation it was. We got to talk for a while and catch up on what is going on back home. As He was talking, I was hearing answered prayer after answered prayer. That what I had been interceding for overseas daily had come true. It brought so much joy into my heart, and emphasized even greater the power of prayer!

1 John 5:14-15 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask— we know that we have what we asked of him.”

Luke 11:9 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

When our prayers line up with God’s will, He wants to answer them! One of the biggest problems I believe we have with prayer on this earth is that we don’t ask!

2 Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and see my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven”

Matthew 6:6 “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

It is important to pray humbly and to do so in a heart of repentance of any evil in your life, and pursuit of life in God. Humility is so important as you follow God’s will for you, and humility holds an importance in your prayer life! God values your state of humility in your prayers.

James 1:6 “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt…”

James 4:3 “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives,”

When you pray you should also believe and not doubt! Trust in God’s provision! Also, He is not a genie in a bottle. If you ask in the wrong motives, out of the wrong heart posture, that is when you don’t receive.

Ephesians 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

Pray in all occasions! For all God’s people! For you struggling family members! For your close friends! For God’s ultimate will on this earth! For those who haven’t heard the Gospel! For those who don’t have anyone praying for them! May this be an encouragement for your prayer life and to step deeper with it!

Personal prayer requests: Please pray for continued awe of God in my time here and for the rest of my life! To be filled with the Spirit, bearing the fruit of the Spirit for God’s glory among the people here. To walk out in boldness and obedience to God. To continue to humble myself before the Lord, and to keep my focus on the long-term glory of salvation amidst whatever trials come my way.

I would love to be praying for you! Text me! Email me! Write them in the comments of this blog! I would love to pray for you! Thanks to all the prayers that have helped me along this journey! May God bless you!
